Tenebrae Service, Holy Week 2020

Greetings Congregations of Covenant CRC, First Brandon CRC, First Thunder Bay CRC, and beyond. Please join us in experiencing the shadow and darkness of Tenebrae this holy week. You can participate at home by following along with our service at this link: https://youtu.be/GDUfhK0bHe4 or finding Tenebrae: A Service of Shadows posted by CovenantCRC Stream in the youtube App on your smart TV. Quality speakers are not necessary, but may help encounter this service more richly. How best to participate: Schedule a time tonight (Thursday) or tomorrow (Friday) that works for you, but preferably after dark or in a dark room if possible. My recommendation is to begin at 8:15pm CDT on Thursday or Friday evening or right at Sunset. In this way, the skies will grow dark as the Tenebrae…

Ideas for Engaging Families in Holy Week

Greetings from Covenant CRC! This is a very unique time that we are facing in all aspects of our lives, including church. Letter to the Congregation, March 27, 2020

Dear Congregation, Council executive met last evening to review our current status and our way forward. It appears we will not be able to meet as congregation in church for some weeks yet. We are happy to report that our Sunday on line service is being well received. Our Pastor, worship coordinator, worship leaders, sound and video people have been working hard at producing and improving these service presentations. It’s not a substitute for actually being there but it is a very good second. Hopefully it is helping us all feel we are still in touch with our church community in spite of the enforced isolation. All of our programs involving more than a few people, (MOB, cadets, gems etc.) have had to be cancelled and will remain so until…

Covenant’s Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic

Dear Congregation, Council has been considering the proper course of action going forward, and have determined that it is the most prudent and wise thing to cancel our worship service on Sunday. We are called, as God's people, not just to gather in worship to God, but above all to bring him worship by loving our neighbours. This move to cancel is an act of love towards those who are at an increased risk, as well as an act of civic duty. We remain a people in the midst of a country that is requesting we take precautions. As a church, we wish to take this request seriously. As a leadership team, we feel that we would be causing an undue and unnecessary risk by bringing together, even healthy people. As an act…
