The Education Program at Covenant CRC ties in well with Covenant’s Mission which states “Sharing Christ until everyone reflects Him.”
The Christian Reformed Church has a reputation for excellence in church education. Using materials provided by Faith Alive Resources, Covenant provides its families with the following programs:
Age Group: ages 3 to Grade 5
During the morning worship service, children first come forward for a Children’s message. After the message, children walk out of the sanctuary and gather for a period of singing. Following the singing, the children meet in classroom areas with other children in their age group. Instructors and helpers instruct and guide the children through a lesson. Parents pick up their children at the end of the service.
Grade 6-8 students meet every week immediately following the morning service. They leave near the end of the last song with their teachers, and go through a lesson designed just for them.
Youth Alive (grade 9-12)
As a church we believe that it is important to challenge our children and young people in the Christian life. Our goal is to help them understand the great love God has for each of His children and that God wants us to respond to Him in faith, word and deed.
Grade 9-12 Catechism takes place at 11:30am after the morning service on Sundays. Pastor Don is going through a number of topics relevant to High School students and helping them better understand and embrace their faith.
Youth at Covenant is focused on building community among both the youth and the leaders. This takes place through participation in a variety of social activities, service opportunities and Bible studies. Youth events take place every Sunday night for the Sr. Youth (grade 10 and up) and every 2nd Friday night for the Jr. Youth (grade 7-9).
Throughout the year, there are plenty of things going on including coffee houses (coffee optional) where we have a short lesson and just hang out, play games and get to know each other better, gym nights, camping/canoeing trips, bowling, the corn maze and much, much more. There are a few weekend retreats every year and we also look for opportunities to serve both within the church, in our community and with an annual Serve Trip somewhere in North America.
Our desire through it all is to help young people find a place where they can belong and where they can grow in their relationships with each other and also come to know their God. We bring in speakers, share lessons on a variety of topics and also have church based classes for all youth. Visitors are always welcome and our youth and leaders would love to have you come and join our youth programs at Covenant and become part of our fun and caring community. Our theme verse for our youth ministry is from I Thessalonians 2:8, “We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.”
Our College and Career group currently meets together 1/month for a potluck supper and discussion and well as other social events. New people are always welcome and there’s always enough great food to go around. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us!
